Car Wash to Benefit Our Sponsored Children at St. Matthew'sAs you may remember, the St. Matthews Youth decided a couple of years ago to sponsor 2 children through ChildFund International (formerly Christian Children’s Fund). We sponsor Emilie, a 3-year-old girl from Senegal . There is much gender inequality in Senegal ’s education system. A shortage of resources and adequate educational facilities to teach children makes getting an education challenging, Emilie recently celebrated her 3rd birthday and although, we are not allowed to send gifts due to the tight restrictions on mail, we sent some money to her family. They were very grateful and used the money to buy flour, oil and sugar to make donuts to celebrate her birthday. The other child we sponsor is Saffa, a 10-year-old boy from Sierra Leone . Sierra Leone ’s infrastructure has been destroyed by war, and the majority of the population lives in poverty. |
